What is a Patient Participation Group (PPG)?

A PPG is a group of patients, carers, & GP practice staff who meet to discuss practice issues & patient experiences to improve the service they provide. The group meet face-to-face bimonthly. Also have an online Facebook for patients.

What does a PPG do?

A PPG is a critical friend to the practice, giving feedback about GP services & changes that are made. Support a charity of choice each year. Fundraising.

Who can join the PPG

Anyone over the age of 16 & is a registered patient at the medical centre.

The 6 Principles of PPG

  1. FACILITATING COMMUNICATION – Build two way links between patients & practice staff.
  2. PATIENT FEEDBACK – Communicating patients experiences, concerns, & interests.
  3. COLLABORATIVE IMPROVEMENT – Working with the practice to enhance services & facilities.
  4. REPRESENTATION – Acting as the voice of the patients.
  5. COMMUNITY BUILDING – Making strong positive links with other health organisations. 
  6. DIVERSITY – Having a group to include a wide range of patients.
